The SSA’s Annual Conference is the UK’s foremost gathering of addiction researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and experts by experience. The 2025 event will be headlined by Professor Trevor Williams Robbins, who will deliver the 2025 Society Lecture on ‘The neural and psychological basis of compulsive drug-seeking’. The programme will include a range of presentations, symposia, and workshops, as well as dedicated times for networking and viewing posters.  

ASPAD invites researchers, healthcare providers, policymakers, and activists to submit abstracts that challenge thinking and elevate voices of people not always heard. In particular, APSAD 2025 invites First Nations community leaders, healthcare providers, researchers and policymakers to critically explore how colonial legacies have influenced the understanding of substance use, health disparities, and treatment systems. We encourage submissions that explore these critical issues and propose solutions grounded in justice, equity, and cultural respect.

The 18th EPH Conference highlights that improving population health and well-being is an investment, not an expense. This investment benefits society and fosters a sustainable economy. Health and well-being are intricately linked with sustainable development: investing in health supports social, economic, and environmental sustainability, while a healthy planet with inclusive growth and fair societies enhances individual and community well-being. Addressing the determinants of health and reducing inequities are crucial for achieving population health and are essential for sustainable development. 

After last year’s gathering in Oslo, NordAN now moves eastward to Riga, Latvia, a country that has stood out in alcohol consumption statistics but has, in recent years, made determined progress in alcohol policy. A new policy package came into effect in August 2025, and during the conference we will learn more about Latvia’s journey. NordAN last visited Riga in 2014, and as we now mark our 25th year, this return comes at a timely moment to reaffirm our commitment to evidence-based alcohol and drug policies across the Nordic and Baltic regions, and beyond.

The biennial event brings together addiction workers, healthcare professionals, researchers, policy makers, knowledge brokers, and people with direct or indirect, lived or living experience with substance use or a substance use disorders from across the country. 

CCSA’s Issues of Substance is unique because this three-day event provides an unparalleled opportunity to share new research and best practices, network with peers, and receive practical training related to substance use and addiction prevention, treatment and recovery.
