Ingibjörg Sveinsdóttir, Ph.D.
Dr. Ingibjörg Sveinsdóttir is a board-certified clinical psychologist with advanced skill set in mental health leadership.
Ingibjörg was one of the pioneers who paved the way for mental health services in primary health care in Iceland. The Ministry of Health hired Ingibjörg in 2017 to lead country wide mental health reform. Integrating mental health in all policies has proven to be of utmost importance in that endeavor. Currently she is expanding on her previous work by leading the wellbeing economy initiative at the Ministry of Health, of which intersectoral collaboration and mental health are essential.
Ingibjörg was a consultant with the Mental Health Flagship Program of the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe from 2023-2025. Her main responsibility was to facilitate policy discussions for mental health reform in the 27 member states, Norway, and Iceland.
She also enjoys teaching graduate students as an adjunct professor at the University of Iceland where she focuses on applied ethics and research ethics.
